I wanted to write a book that would be the kind of book someone like Laurence Sterne would write if he had been born in the year 2352 with a learning disability that required him to use written words and still images as a substitute for the typically healthly and normal participation in universal mind (defined by Wikipedia as the "nonlocal and atemporal "hive mind" of all aggregates, components, constituents, relationships, personalities, entities, technologies, processes and cycles of the Universe") experienced by everyone else living in whatever was left of the United States.
